DELIGHTFUL GARDENING

Hope you had a lovely weekend.
I was in a bit of a gardening mood on Sunday and beautiful tools always make it a pleasure. The online store  Heaven in Earth sells some great gardening accessories online, take a peek.
  I'm liking the look of old tin buckets for planter pots at the moment, what do you think of this one on my outside deck???

Hope you have had a lovely week . We have been having a bit of a heat wave in my part of the world, but things are slowly cooling down.

It's Mardi Gras weekend here in sunny Sydney, so we will be seeing lots of fun and flamboyant people celebrating life , it's always entertaining watching all the wonderful floats in the parade or just soaking up the party atmosphere.

4.  I posted a photo of my dog "Elvis" a few days ago, so I thought it only fair I show you my other four legged friend" Malcom". Here he is joining us at the dinner table for a chat.

5.  Must say I'm a bit of a sucker for beautiful looking facial products. Aesop and Janson Beckett   are my all time favorites, they come in lovely dark glass bottles and jars which are great to recycle,  plus they go very well with my bathroom decor.

PS . I was watching the Tropfest short film festival this week and they showed one of the winners of Tropfest New York 2008 . The film was made entirely on a mobile phone for $57.00. Take a look , it's really amazing.

CYCLE CHIC

Described as the "Sartorialist on two wheels" these photographs from "Copenhagen Cycle Chic "of people looking very well dressed  on bicycles is a great read. You have to love a girl who can ride a bike in high heels !!!!

MY DESIGN IDOL !!!!!

 I have already written about how much I adore Sibella Court and her store The Society Inc . Well....I have just found the best photo spread on this blog . I was extra excited because it was taken just after I had visited and written about it  here . I was lucky enough to get a personal tour by Sibella herself and  must say it really is as amazing as the photographs. But it was such a visual overload that I could not take it all in , so now I can linger on these great shots and really have a good look . Don't you just love the kitchen ?  ENJOY !!!!

THEY WERE THE DAYS

This was such a freak find....... I bought an old framed picture from a junk shop a few years back. I just adored it, but I had a little accident with it and broke the glass, soooo ......... while taking it apart to be repaired I found these pieces of old newspaper at the back of the frame !!!!!  They are from a Sydney newspaper dated  May 23 1934. The pages are in quite good condition and it was so amazing seeing some of the ads , fireworks (before they were banned for sale) cigarettes ( before they were not allowed to be advertised) . But the page for Gowings was the one I loved most. Gowings was where all smart Sydney gentlemen shopped for all their needs, there was even a barber shop. I knew men who would come from country towns to shop at Gowings , school children bought all their uniforms there. Years later it became very cool and attracted a whole new generation, I remember taking my kids there because they had a great novelty section downstairs, which I still miss to this day. Sadly after 137 years of trading Gowings doors closed and it really was the end of an era.  What a lovely reminder of those days.

RIVER PHOENIX IMAGE

I have always loved this image of River Phoenix. This is actually a T shirt bought from Alphaville in Paddington , I had a very basic frame and border made and framed it. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

These super cute tea cup lights by ceramicist Gregory Bonasera are made from recycled porcelain and fine bone china tea cups and saucers, how great do they look hanging in a cluster ?  Think I have a soft spot for the red one!!!

 My favorite take away breakfast ... bacon and egg tart and a flat white, eaten whilst sitting on a park bench people watching... Just Perfect !!!!!!!

VALENTINES DAY WITH GILBERT & GEORGE

 

 

I spent Valentines Day with Gilbert and George ..... 

The famous pair were guests of honor at The Art Gallery of NSW, it was so amazing seeing them in real life, they were just divine. 

They signed special Valentines Day cards (I was lucky enough to get one as there were only limited numbers and they sold out very fast) then they were interviewed by Gallery Director Edmund Capon, great interview, very funny and enlightening.

The fantastic fabric dolls pictured were presented to the artists as a gift, they are by Sydney artist Luke Temby, great likeness don't you think ?           

WHAT BIG UNDERWEAR YOU HAVE !!!

I just love these photographs for clothing label  "writtenafterwoods". They were taken by photographer Koomi Kim. Not sure  how it all came about but it looks like a big wonderful art installation , and don't you just love the boys !!!!!!
