THE SOCIETY INC

I just adore "The Society Inc" in Paddington .... it would have to be one of my favorite stores in Sydney. I was away for the theme launch of "NbyNW" but I got to have a peek on Saturday and it did not disappoint .... as you can see from the window display, just beautiful !!!

Stylist extraodinaire  and owner  Sibella Court just has the most amazing eye ..... and is always so accommodating and inspiring .... (plus she always looks amazing as well !!!)

The theme was a treasure trove of flags, cushions and odds and ends all in vintage inspired reds, whites and blues ... but I think the "piece de resistance" was the "Vivienne Westwood" Flag wallpaper above the fireplace  .... it was a piece of art in itself. (sorry didn't think to get a photo but it's the same design as the cushion below) .... just great !!!

... and don't you just adore the painted floor ....... I always want to go home and repaint everything after a visit, whether it's my bathroom in "Pirate Black" (Still planning that one) or an old chair in"Rosa Rugosa".....

These are a few goodies I picked up on my visit ......

This multi purpose "Rosewater" spray which can be used for anything from a spray for yourself, your clothes, or your room .... and it smells divine, I've gone mad spraying myself and everything around me (glad I bought two !!!) ... and the bottle goes very well with all my other bathroom goodies.

I also picked up some great little Mexican garlands (think this one looks pretty cute on the mirror) and some "Chalkboard Paint"  ..... I went for black but they also come in the most amazing colours. (not even sure what my plans are for this).

Also this nice little addition (the red lantern) to my daughters collection .... the white one was bought from the store a while back ....

....  and you gotta love a French flag .... It's going to live here on my desk for the moment .... but I'm sure it will pop up in all different spots.

Sibella even wrote down some great places to visit on my upcoming Melbourne trip .... think I can trust these tips !!!!
So if you happen to be in the area pop in and have a look , you'll be glad you did.... and check out that wallpaper !!!!
There are some great pics of Sibella's space here as well.

and finally .....while playing around with my goodies I spotted my dog Malcom looking very "Society Inc" ..... and very relaxed  .... think he would fit in very well at Sibella's !!!

WEEKEND

Saturday was one wet day ....  but after last weekends rain we didn't feel like an inside day so armed with umbrellas we braved the wet .......
The car above is not mine it was parked near Bourke St Bakery and I just had to photograph it !!!
First stop was "Fouratefive".... my favorite cafe as mentioned before in this post. Best food, coffee and staff in Sydney. We order the same thing every time " French Toast stuffed with banana" ... the girls don't even ask us what we are having anymore they just know .... now that's service !!!!

Then we strolled to buy bread at "Bourke St Bakery" even in the rain there is still a line up for their  bread . Don't you love the girls drinking coffee and eating pastries under their umbrellas .... we have been known to do the same thing, but today it was just a big bread purchase.
We had a look at this exhibition at the "Ray Hughes Gallery" .... it's such a great gallery space.
Then we strolled along Crown St and looked in a few vintage stores ......  "Cream" is my favorite,  and the guys are great ( and have smiles to match!!!) .....
they have the best selection of mens check shirts and some great shoes , without the greedy price tags of some vintage stores .....

.... my daughter bought these boots ..... great leather and nicely worn in, Perfect !!!!

We nearly walked past this store .... it's new on the block, Flight 001  has opened it's first store outside of the US (lucky Surry Hills) and like the name implies it is a store dedicated to all things travel ....  I bought some little "Wallpaper" travel books and a great alarm clock, but unfortunately I left them in this store so I can not show you until the the lovely owner sends them to me in the post.

We strolled over to Paddington to the above mentioned store.... where I always get so inspired and a little excited (hence leaving my travel goodies there) .... I'm going to tell you more about this in my next post because "The Society Inc" deserves it's own post .....
Then on to  this movie ..... It was great but not near as good as the first one "Paris Je T'aime", but still a lovely way to spend a rainy afternoon.
We walked out into a rainy dark evening .... (which I kind of like) ....
..... my favorite bookstore is straight across the road so we ventured over there for a nice browse (I love bookstores in the evening for some reason) .....
.... I finally bought this book, which I am looking very forward to reading after watching this film.
more about it in last Sundays post
Then a walk back to Surry Hills for a nice early dinner of margherita pizza at ''Pizza e Birra''.... Think I could happily  live on "Fouratefive" and "Pizza e Birra" food every weekend (When you're on a good thing ....)
So a great day was had ..... and much walking and eating was done ..... very satisfied !!!!

Sunday ..... the sun is shining so we had a big walk with the doggies and a bit of a lazy day. I did have a visitor pop up at the window though .... this peacock has been hanging out around our house for quite a while now, she walks around with all the bush turkeys and doesn't seem fazed if you go near her .... she kind of has a bit of attitude actually, I like her!!!
Hope you had a lovely weekend.
