Such sad news, Dasher, our favorite Surry Hills dog died
yesterday .....
Dasher was always there, greeting passers-by from the pavement outside his home on Crown Street, we would always stop and give him a cuddle and a pat ....
this was the note left outside of Dashers home yesterday by his beautiful owner Jeanne Marie ....
Jeanne Marie and Dasher
Dasher had been a regular fixture on the streets of Surry Hills for the past decade ....
In February, Jeanne Marie told the Courier that she didn’t understand what all the fuss was about.
“I don’t know what the attraction is, quite frankly, because he’s just an ordinary dog,” she said.
“He loves the attention, he loves people and people love him. He has got many more friends on Facebook than I have.”

These are just some of the flowers and notes left for Dasher ....
and this morning, a box of chalk had been left near Dasher’s chalk outline, which marks the spot outside Ms Thomas’s home where he is usually found, so passers-by can leave their own messages ......
..... Dasher you will be sadly missed by all of us

oh i am so sad about this dog ;(
Oh, such a sad post. :( But I am glad that he had a good life.
so sad.... poor thing
How sad. Dog's are peoples best friend. My own dog,'louis' looks like him. They have the same age. I can't imagine he would die. But I know it will happen this year.
So nice that dasher get's flowers
so amazing, the joy he brought to all those people.
What a loss. How nice to see the response, though. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Oh that's really sad. What a lovely dog.
x
That is so sad. He must have been a real character and will obviously be greatly missed x
I had known Dasher for 14 years. He was such a welcome face to see each day as I walked past. He shook my hand (right and left) and would always accept a tummy rub and pat behind the ears. And he would always respond with a tail-wag and a lick. I will miss you Dasher the Wonderdog. RIP
what a big loss for the neighborhood. very sad indeed. your post and the memorials are loving tributes to dasher.
That's so, so sad. I can't contain my emotions on hearing animal stories, our own dog was almost put down last week but she survived the op.
RIP Dasher. xxx
i love dasher without meeting him.
we need to put a sign in the whole world:
"WATCH WHILE DRIVING FOR KIDS, DOGS, CATS AND LIVING CREATURES ON THE ROAD"
this makes me so mad how a wonderful dog can be hit like this agghhhh
